"GLORY HOLE" is a visceral video performance that dives into flesh, desire, and solitude through the raw lyricism of butoh movement. Two naked bodies writhe in a confined, abstract space, evoking a blind ritual of contact—faceless, anonymous, yet saturated with memory.

The gloryhole becomes a metaphor: for the encounter between need and absence, for the tension between sexual impulse and social censorship. It is also a symbolic portal—into the unconscious, into what’s been repressed, into a form of pleasure that has no face but only substance.

Shot in stark cold colors and blacklight, with a soundscape alternating between visceral silence and organic noise, the video blends extreme dance, queer iconography, and body art into a provocative reflection on pornography, pleasure, and marginalized modes of expression.

"GLORY HOLE" shows nothing overtly sexual—yet it’s pornography of the soul.

IN-PERFEZIONE — A Ritual in Frames
A short experimental film by MATERIA PRIMA | Duration: 4 min 30 sec

Born from the legacy of Japan’s Ankoku-Butō movement and fused with contemporary visual performance, IN-PERFEZIONE is an intense short film exploring the raw power of the body in transformation.

Filmed using the pixilation technique — a form of stop-motion animation where live performers are photographed frame by frame — this work turns human movement into something fragmented, ghostlike, and hypnotically unnatural. Each gesture becomes sculptural. Each shift in posture, a violent rebirth.

The naked bodies of the performers, painted, covered in gold and mud, are not symbolic — they are living matter, constantly mutating before your eyes. Rather than telling a story, IN-PERFEZIONE creates a chain of metamorphoses, pushing the body beyond identity, beyond gender, beyond time.

LEGEND OF MOMOTARO — A Myth Reborn Through Movement

A visceral retelling of Japan’s beloved folk hero, this performance brings to life the epic journey of Momotarō, the boy born from a peach, who rises from humble beginnings to become a fearless demon-slayer.

Blending Butoh, physical theatre, and ritual gesture, this evocative work follows Momotarō as he leaves his adoptive parents and sets out to liberate his land from the Oni — monstrous demons dwelling on the cursed island of Onigashima.

Along the way, Momotarō forms a strange alliance with a talking dog, monkey, and pheasant, forging bonds through the humble offering of kibi dango (millet dumplings). Together, they confront the grotesque forces that haunt the island, confronting fear, violence, and transformation in a raw, symbolic battle.

IN-PERFEZIONE — Ritual of the Unfinished Body

IN-PERFEZIONE traces its roots — and motivations — back to the radical Ankoku-Butō movement born in 1950s Japan, fusing its philosophy of darkness, decay, and transformation with elements of contemporary and experimental theatre.

This performance is not a narrative, but a metamorphic ritual: the performers’ naked bodies, gilded, and smeared with white paint and "light", do not simply represent a state or emotion — they become the medium of mutation itself. A body is never one thing; it is constantly becoming.

Each movement dissolves the boundary between human and elemental, between beauty and discomfort, between flesh and symbol. What emerges is a visual and psychological crescendo, charged with intensity, vulnerability, and silence.

Butoh Ritual meets Sonic Ceremony – A 19-minute immersive performance film

Enter a trance-inducing space where body, light, and sound merge into a ritual of contemporary mysticism.
EXTRA SENSORIAL is a 19-minute audiovisual experience that blends the visceral language of Butoh with the hypnotic resonance of Tibetan singing bowls, creating a hybrid ceremony that feels both ancient and post-human.

Two performers, adorned in evocative costumes that partially reveal their nakede forms, move through sculptural gestures and meditative contortions. Their bodies become instruments, modulating the vibrations of sound and light in a space that resembles a futuristic sanctuary.

Wrapped in a hi-tech aesthetic of pulsating colors and atmospheric smoke, the performance challenges perception, dissolving the line between spiritual invocation and experimental body art.

EXTRA SENSORIAL is not a dance, not a concert — it is a sensory activation.

LA CREACIÓN — Birth Through Shadows

LA CREACIÓN is a raw, 13-minute performance born from the immersive workshop CUERPOS EN SOMBRAS, exploring the myth of creation through a lens of Butoh, acidic color, and industrial techno soundscapes.

This is not a creation myth retold — it is one rebodied. Two performers collide, melt, and erupt in a sequence of ruptures and pulsations. Their flesh is marked by neon light, their rhythms dictated by distorted beats and fractured silence.

The result is a hybrid ritual: part dance, part trance, part invocation. A vision of life not as origin, but as explosion.

IN-PERFECTION
An 8-minute video from MATERIA PRIMA’s first performance

“Uniformity in all things is ugly; leaving them unfinished makes them far more interesting... it almost feels as if they breathe more deeply.
Within the imperfection of reality lies its greatest perfection.”

IN-PERFECTION is the inaugural performance of the MATERIA PRIMA project, born out of a personal fracture — a deep ambivalence toward returning to theatre, and more specifically to a certain kind of theatre (physical, dance-based, Butoh-influenced) that I no longer felt suited for. My age, my body, my own judgments were in conflict with a discipline that demands presence above all.
Nonsense, of course. And as often happens, what seemed like fears turned into movement, and into necessity.

Theatre — when taken seriously — has always been therapeutic. This work emerged as a gesture of acceptance, a ritual of exposure, and a stubborn refusal to perform perfection.

The title plays with the paradox of seeking form through its very rupture — through the raw, the unresolved, the incomplete. Not as lack, but as generative fracture.

Fundamental to this process was my encounter with Masaki Iwana’s seminars. His approach to Butoh shaped not only the physical language of this piece but also its deeper philosophical core.
